The Power Of Hope, Faith and Love

The Power Of Hope, Faith and Love

1Co 13:13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.

The Bible tells us about faith, hope and love, and that the greatest of these is love. This means there can actually be a greater one among them. Also, the Bible tells us that faith is the evidence of things HOPED for. This shows us that faith is the next level on hope. In other words, there are these three, in the following order: LOVE, FAITH AND HOPE.

What does this mean? It is this: when we start out, God starts with us on HOPE. Why hope? Well, hope is that STRENGTH that comes through the Word of God, that gives us the encouragement, confidence and zeal to keep pressing on, no matter what.

Then God encourages us to DO SOMETHING based on our hope from God’s Word – this is faith.

Then God teaches us how to make sure all we hope for and do is not just for our own selfish aims, but for others – this is love.

David’s Story

In 1 Sam 30:6, the Bible tells us how David went out with his fighting men, and an army came into the city, and took all the women and children. David was almost depressed at this, but the Bible says BUT David encouraged himself in the Lord His God (1Sam 30:6). What is this place talking about? It is talking about David building up his hope. He inquired of God, God told him he would recover all; so he went forward, pursued, and he did recover all.

This hope gave David the strength to fight the battle and win. Him seeing that God said he would win the battle, that was HOPE. When he fought the battle, that was FAITH – He acted on the Word God had told Him, that he would recover. The basis of everything he did was LOVE.

So hope is the strength and confidence we get from the Word of God, faith is acting on the Word of God by speaking and doing, and love is doing what we do, not for ourselves, but for others and God.

Tomorrow we would see how to get more love, faith and hope, and how to put them to work!

CONFESSION
I am full of hope, faith and love. I am confident, I am a doer of God’s Word, and I am full of love. All I do is based on the Word of God, and the Word is working mightily in my life! I am moving forward everyday, for these virtues are continually at work in me, and increasing in me, in Jesus’ Name. I am a success!
